Bluegrass Underground, Music City Roots, and Bill and the Belles Heads West!

One June 26th, Bill and the Belles’ signature old time sound could be heard emanating from Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee. This is where Bluegrass Underground calls home: 333ft below ground, where the temperature stays at a constant 56 degrees fahrenheit with 99% humidity. Our instruments were slick with condensation, we brought extra pomade to keep the frizzy hairs at bay, and boy did we have an incredible time! The audience, including many of the good folks at PBS, was so excited and supportive, and Davina and the Vagabonds put on quite the show. This was one of the best gigs we’ve ever played, by far!  Picture by Bluegrass UndergroundWe left feeling energized, and the experience definitely reaffirmed that what we’re doing is important and so worth the work. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished in a little over a year, and a big thanks to YOU for all the support!
The weekend of our Bluegrass Underground debut we also made a return to Nashville’s acclaimed roots and Americana variety show, Music City Roots! This time we were part of a special show at the Monteagle Assembly, a historic community of picturesque cottages nestled in a system of carriage-width roads. In a beautiful 100 year-old assembly hall, we played for the families of Monteagle, some of which have been summering there going back five generations. Our new Edwina microphone from Ear Trumpet Labs, ready for business in Monteagle, TN.
We just returned from our first trip out west! First stop, Karl's hometown of Manhattan, Kansas (known as the "Little Apple"). Kansas was so kind to us, and we can't wait to come back to visit! We also played in Wyoming, where the landscape certainly didn't fail to impress us with its drama: we hiked around the Snowy Range in Medicine Bow National Forest and got some surprise sunburn, and then a huge storm blew in and forced our show indoors (which worked out wonderfully in the Mountain View Historic Hotel). It was a big, intense, satisfying trip, and we're excited to travel out that way again. Well worth the long drive!Photo by Tom Leopold. Manhattan, KS.Hello from breezy Centennial, WY!Don’t forget, we’ve got a new release available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and on our online store.
